Hi, I’m Betty.
ceo & head photographer | master juggler of plates | mother | business cheerleader | cat lady | yoga lover | cold water dipper | allotment gardener | wild swimmer | foodie
Hi. I am Betty Bhandari, the woman behind lens. I have been a professional photographer since 2012 when I started my wedding photography business.
I am a German with an Indian surname through marriage (it is pronounced Ban-dah-ree) and moved to the UK in 2001. I worked as an architect in London for many years, but changed careers after I had my first child in 2011. I am now a mother of two beautiful kids and wife of what I still think is the greatest man I have ever dated.
I have been a passionate portrait photographer since my late teens and I spent fifteen years dragging all my friends in front of my camera, before I even made my new job official. My attic is full of analogue film that needs scanning at some point in my life and my shelves proudly present my small collection of antique cameras.
I am a Nikon girl which is my dad’s fault because he had a Nikon FE2 which was the first camera I properly photographed with (I still have the camera). Today I am a registered professional Nikon user and only use the best cameras and lenses. I currently shoot with two Nikon z6ii cameras.
Other things worth knowing are that I am totally bilingual, very organised (still German), honest (sometimes too honest I’ve been told), I can start a conversation with pretty much anyone and I love to help people and businesses.
I am also very passionate about health and wellness. I practice yoga and meditation, cycle to most of my shoots in Bath and run an allotment together with my husband where we grow seasonal veggies. I love to cook, journal, swim in the wild and meditate in our cold plunge.
Testimonials:
I’m happy to share some of the kind words and great commercial photography reviews I have had from my lovely clients.
I’ve worked with Betty on numerous occasions she regularly takes the publicity photographs of my art exhibitions. She is the sweetest lady, very likeable at the same time as being very efficient. Explaining what she was doing and why as we went along. The resulting photographs were a delight and I would be more than happy to recommend Betty.
Betty is super friendly, calm and it’s completely obvious that she adores photography, which I think definitely adds to better pictures. I felt at ease and we had lots of fun finding different spots for the best shots. I’ll definitely be using here in future for more pictures. Really excellent!
Absolutely loved my headshots. Betty was lovely to spend time with and made me feel at ease throughout the entire process. My photos were fabulous and I can’t believe how easy the entire process was. I had a specific idea if what I wanted and Betty totally nailed it! Thank you, Betty.
Betty Bhandari of The Creative Collaboration is an exceptional photographer, focussed on what you want to convey from a professional point of view. Not only did she spend time with me in advance of the shoot to discuss various ideas – and was very keen for my input – but she made me feel entirely at ease on the day. It really was like spending an afternoon with a friend which resulted in natural photographs that will be invaluable for professional and publicity purposes. I would highly recommend The Creative Collaboration to anyone looking for polished, yet relaxed photographs celebrating your creative passion.
It was great to work with Betty Bhandari to update my profile photos as the editor and owner of The Bath & Wiltshire Parent. I’d seen Betty’s work with other local business owners and really like the informal style and quality of the images. Before the shoot, she made a point of understanding exactly what I needed from the shoot and came up with ideas for the best looks and location. The shoot itself was both stress free and – for someone who doesn’t like having their photo taken – actually enjoyable! Best of all, the results were exactly what I wanted. I am very happy to recommend Betty’s work to other business owners.
Wow is The Creative Collaboration a fantastic photographer! What a great experience and 9 fantastic photos of me, which I was not expecting. A big thank you to Betty as I was nervous before the mini-photo shoot. Betty explained so well what the plan was and the options for two different areas and during the shoot I became so comfortable and at ease, it was like being with a life-long good friend. Coming out of lockdown with a bit more weight than usual, not to mention my hair, I was hoping for one good headshot and I ended up with 9 really great photos. The unexpected benefit has been finding joy in these photos of me, Betty really captured my spirit with her lens. Thank you again and I highly recommend The Creative Collaboration. I’m looking forward to refreshing my my website photos with you!
I have had the pleasure of being photographed by Betty on four occasions, and she is a delight to pose for and her pictures are pretty perfect. She has managed to capture the true nature of my business, in the best light, without disguising any of the eccentricities. She is professional and personable, and very good value!
